late august burst
I have to note - with no illustrations, that some of my favorite roses are having a late august burst of activity. The middle summer blooms have struggled with dampness, producing many buds and not quite making their glory or maybe only for a day. The Princess Elizabeth at my parents has had more buds than I've ever seen but only occasionaly laste din full flower for more than a day. The deep red sharp sweet smelling one is producing blooms on new growth that seems to have appeared from nowhere. And my favourite blousey pink across the garden is also blooming well and scattering the petals amongst the falling green apples.
