they keep blooming, scattering the hedges. just before they open wide they are like cups holding a golden centre.

the first dog rose

Yesterday I saw my first dog rose (rosa canina), near the estuary at Trefdraeth/Newport. A bit of a nibble laced rose! It wasn't the first rose as the petal on the side of the road was evidence of a previous bloom.
